Peranbu Review
A story of persistence, to earn the trust of his daughter, suffering from cerebral palsy. Amudhavan tries every possible thing to nurture her and act like a responsible father after his wife leaves him.
As she found her mother abandons, she got mad and yells a lot so, to control her & win her trust, he takes her outside the town. There he got a lot of time to spend with her, know her behavior and construct trust and build a strong father-daughter relationship.
The story folds, how he takes care of her when she's not accepting him as a father. Even in difficult times, when she's on menstruation and comes to an age when she's desirable for love.
Here, the pace of the story slows down a little bit and needs some patience to understand it & when he comes back to the town and deals with real problems,
here the thrill begins ..
The story is powerful, intense and sensitive one but the movie somehow seems slightly boring in the middle and can't engage much.
I found some lacks in the first half -
I found some lacks in the first half -
They choose a really heavenly location & failed to capture that beauty excellently.
They still manage to take a few good shots but that's not enough to uplift the film. Due to the lack of good production designer and cinematographer, leaves the plot look dull and sluggish. If they have one they can make this film more beautiful and emotional. Still, due to the staunch story and influential performances, the movie hits the impact really hard.
The second half is more intriguing & engaging than the first one. After the interval, the story seems thrivingly interesting.
The music is way more adorable than Cinematography. It succeeds in making a connection with the story, character, and audience honestly.
They somehow manage to found a happy ending but can be more realistic. I'm not saying that the ending is fake or forced, it is believable but if they end up another way, give it a sad ending then we can understand it and will be able to feel more - looks justified.
Performance -
Mammootty - is a reliable choice to hold the screen.
We always watch him in action mode & I remember, I like a movie of him called RAJA and liked the storyline of that. He's a legend and as a father, he lives this character. We can feel his burden and innocence. He's acutely superior throughout the film. Hoping more of him in such decent roles.
Anjali Sadhana - Unbelievable, I've got only one word to explain her performance. She's so good. Even after watching the film, the first thing I did was to search her on Google to find if she's really paralyzed or did they just cast a special child in a film. I can't believe that she's a normal person playing that role. She's just perfect and can't able to find any flaws. Brilliant. She's just nailed it. Even her body language is so pure that you can't believe she actually acted, it comes so naturally on screen.
Streaming on Amazon Prime.
