Kadvi Hawa
Streaming on Zee5 |
Drisyam film is now working for decades to produce meaningful and realistic cinema.
Masan, Aakhon Dekhi, Dhanak, Newton and many more in the queue to be released -
Ram Prasad ki Tehrvi, Aadhar, Kaamyaab, etc. That gives confidence & confirmation that the film will give you a great experience with a powerful story. They believe in storytelling, not in the ideas. That's why they have a great lineup behind them.
The story of a farmer and his son suffering from a financial crisis due to drought. A blind old farmer tensed by outstanding loan amount and afraid of losing his son, might not be able to repay it and in financial pressure could have hung himself the same as his friends and others from his village. So, he tries to spy on him, on his movements, to save him and makes a pact with a debt collector for survival.
Wind carrying awful vibes of farmers' suicides in Barren fields. The whole film looks so natural and feels connected. The background scores were beautiful and can't better than this.
Every scene, every frame was indicating something. That needs to be addressed in the earliest way without stretching anything, it comes on a point from the start. Even the subplots support and express the plot more accurately. Not a single scene is useless. The small details, the director talks about dry farmlands were covered throughout the film to convey their concept. It is the real issue in most rural areas like dry farmlands, floods, unseasonal rains that will destroy their crops & ultimately farmers. Due to which they can't able to repay the loan amount and debt collectors keep asking for money so they hang themselves to skip the torture.
There was one school scene where the headmaster teaches them about the seasons and asked, how many seasons are there in a year?
One said, three and his friend, two.
When the headmaster asks, why?
When the headmaster asks, why?
He answered, only two were remaining nowadays. Only winter and summer.
And when asked, where is the rainy season goes?
He replied, only two-three days rains in a year, so excluded.
It's a small comic scene but very effective.
I'm blessed to experience all four seasons. But afraid, if the upcoming generation will be able to experience the same or not. It is a serious issue and should be addressed properly.
He's blind but his insights are open, feels, breathes, senses through the wind - shows him direction, time, everything. The wind is his eyes and answer to every question. He strongly believes in the wind. He used to talk to his Buffalo Annapurna, she's the only one who listens.
There is a conversation between him and his granddaughter Kuhu, where she asked him - how he knows that someone has arrived. He said, Hawa ..
Also when she told him about the incident in the school of two seasons, he said
- Sahi kahi usne ..
- Par hamari book m to chaar mausam likhe hai ..
- Yaha pr bhi pehle hote the ..
- Toh ab kahe nahi ?
- Hawa ..
- Aapke pass toh hr sawal ka ek hi jawab hota hai, Hawa ..
- Hawa to badal lat hai
Hawa to sardi, garmi, sab lat hai ..
Ab na jaane Kya ho gaya usko,
Jaise bimar ho gai ho ..
That's where title got produced, The wind is sick - Kadvi Hawa ..
I always prefer realistic cinema mostly because they always shoot bare, no fancy locations, no makeup, or anything that didn't suitable for the content of the film.
Just have a strong script with powerful actors onboard to make a tight film.
The lighting in dark looks like shot under moonlights. Everyone has captured the tone of the village very well, especially child actors.
Performance -
Sanjay Mishra one of my favorite actors, who can shine in any role of any length. He can impress you with only his presence on screen. Seen mostly in comedies and rear in serious, never hesitates on becoming a part of the small films, like Saare Jahan Se Mehnga, the film is not perfect in most of its aspects but I've only seen because Mishra is in lead. Also, the same reason to watch this and will also watch Kaamyaab (yet to release)
I'm really excited after watching the trailer of Kadvi Hawa and it lived up to my expectations. I mean, after Ankhon Dekhi, this is his best performance. He should do that kind of film more often but his heart is so big that he does not refuse any filmmaker that's why he can be seen in many films playing different unusual characters, without worrying about the length and power.
Tillotama Shome -
The most underrated yet talented actress Bollywood has ever witnessed. I think she's only here to do good films because if you watch her work and lineup behind her, were gems. Sir, Chintu ka Birthday (yet to release, due to screenings at different festivals),
Manto, Hindi Medium, Monsoon Wedding, A Death in the Gunj, Children of War, Qissa and many more ..
Ranvir Shorey and Bhupesh Singh upheld their role with honesty.
The one and only song of the film is Banjar which gives the perfect context of the film. Produced under Drishyam Play and sung by my favorite Mohan Kanan -Manto, Hindi Medium, Monsoon Wedding, A Death in the Gunj, Children of War, Qissa and many more ..
Ranvir Shorey and Bhupesh Singh upheld their role with honesty.
