Kumbalangi Nights Review

South Indian film industry was growing up rapidly and making so many awe-inspiring cinemas and provides us more delighted performances every year.

Fahadh faasil is the new Malayali superstar just like Vijay Sethupati as a new Tollywood superstar. Don't know when will both of them debuts in Bollywood and show their talent & skills.

It's a kind of film that presents love wrapped in a lot of emotions with charismatic characters. You would end up loving the film.

The film appears so beautiful, the Cinematographer Shyji Khalid  captures each and every scene brilliantly & it sensed like breathing.

The trees, the houses on the bank of the river, the boats.
The scenes taken during nights were also shot astoundingly. Even in a lesser light, it didn't appear much darker - Perfect lighting. I like how they capture natural beauty without using fancy stuff. The innate beauty of the small unpainted house of a fisherman beside littoral looks inviting. The music by Sushin Shyam with that cinematography is a delight to watch and was like sight for sore eyes.

A story of four brothers with complicated family relations.

Saji, the hothead guy used to fight with younger brother Bobby who is a lazy wastrel for no reason which Franky (another younger brother) hates both and likes to hang out along with the mute guy Bonny (another elder brother).

WEED COULD MAKE YOU THINK,
WE'RE NOT THE THINKING TYPE ..

Bobby  is an idler, spares time with his friend Prasant where he meets a girl Baby  working in a hotel and falls in love. The chemistry between Bobby & Baby is really amazing and pleasing.

Shammi (Fahadh faasil) brother-in-law of Baby is a freak character. He's an angry man who is obsessed with his mustache because he's a barber.

A nasty, violent mind guy which clearly no one wants to mess with. He's a suspicious character always has something wild, insane in his mind which covers with loud and intense background scores.
Refuses their marriage proposal with great love and respect because Bobby is unemployed.

And now every character starts exploring their own world in that story. The ride of love, guilt, grief, anger, sadness starts and tells you the story of all these with complete passion and dedication.
The plot and storyline are really strong and covers all these above characters brilliantly and sums up all in the very last moment - Serenity-ily.

Like how, both Saji & Bobby fights were meant to fight like this only because of their appearance and character descriptions.

Even, when Bobby didn't like Saji  but instead of that, he involves him to gather the support for his Marriage. Saji agrees to that but when he asked them to leave the house before the wedding to both Saji and Bonny, that scene was really hilarious, both agreed to disagree in a quite funny manner.

The director crosses the path of all the characters throughout the story in such a way that all got affected, which triggered their affection for each other besides loathing.
They want us to feel the character.
Some scenes are so instinctive that when the Character is laughing you also start laughing at the same time.
It's a story filled with emotions. A lot of emotions.

I like Saji's character played by Soubin Shahir. He's just simply magnificent.

When Prediction Fails :

At one point, I'm assuming that Franky, the younger one might have found himself in a trouble with Shammi for playing in front of his house which he clearly doesn't like.
And would've ruined the idea of the marriage of Bobby & Baby. But that's not what actually happened. They put this one on a slot just to confuse us and never push it further.
Franky has no such roles, they didn't go there instead of dug another route with every possible exit.

There were so many things happening simultaneously one by one and arranged properly according to the storyline & didn't make a mess.
The film is in such control that there were no unnecessary scenes, songs, dialogues to distract us from the plot.

Sooraj Pops as Prasant one of the friend of Bobby looks like Snoop Dog when wears glasses.

From start to finish, it is witty & wicked. There were a lot of beautiful moments. And the writer Syam Puskaran takes the contrasting route to avoid predictions & construct a powerful story while having these charismatic characters around.
Every Character was written Meticulously.

The whole film appears green and blue as the theme of the Kerela reflects.
The costumes, makeup was natural and matches the background colors. Overall looks so fresh.
It's a powerful story with a solid screenplay. Besides twists, the story lands firmly.

I think, they just wasted Shammi's character. This character could have wrenched it more. They touched the evilness & come back.

I want them to dive into it. I'm not fond of Violence BUT when you take a character like this one & showed it superficially, just floats over the surface only. Not Enough!!
We enjoyed the whole film, nothing awful happened in any way but in the end,
Just make it more intense, violent, cruel so that we can enjoy Shammi's character more and have tasted it better.

Just Imagine :

A film having Nawaj & Irrfan  as a lead/protagonist and these two Vijay & Fahadh as a Villian/Antagonist.
